TPACK Teacher Game 

Gamification uses gaming to engage student learning, promote problem solving and provide students with interactive and fun ways to gain knowledge. It is the idea of blended learning where students incorporate gaming/ technology to enhance classroom lessons and present information in fun and challenging environments. It takes basic learning and bridges the gap, bringing information into the 21 century. 

Bellow are some of the badges I have earned using the Gamification program.


REFLECTION

EDUC8Y24 has given teacher candidates an opportunity to explore different gaming technologies such as Gamification. This program required individuals to work through tasks in order to earn badges. This approach to learning is interactive and fun and can be easily incorporated into the classroom.

Two game mechanics I will integrate into my instructional practices is first, integrating collaborative online environments within my classroom. This promotes the development of a social fabric where students collaborate ideas and work together to problem solve challenges.  

Second, I will integrate and use gaming as an extension to classroom lessons. Online environments allow students to continue their learning (development of cognitive processes) outside of the classroom in fun and engaging ways. In the 21st century world we need to find more innovative ways of keeping student attention while encouraging learning and exploration. students are not only learning about technology (how the program operates and safe practices) but also gaining content knowledge in a specific subject area. The integration of gaming in learning, moves away from drilling and testing student knowledge. Instead of ‘filling’ students with information, gaming provides an environment for students to develop their knowledge and apply it in meaningful ways within specific contexts.
